This guy has more widely varying opinions of him than anyone else in the draft it seems. Want to get a feel for other's thoughts on him. I personally don't like his prospects at all. The fact that weight has already been an issue for him is enough of a red flag to scare me off unless he goes later than expected. He has a lot of talent but if he gets lazy and complacent he simply won't last at the next level. His talent can carry him through college ball but not through the nfl.
Thoughts?

Yeah, he knows he better if he wants to get paid, but again I look about 3 years out. Alshon is walking the walk right now and he has superior ball skills and physical skills. I'm betting damn near anything he will put in the work NOW. Now if he starts to really excel, then owner beware. Alshon for me is a PERFECT "risk it" prospect because his upside is huge. But I would suggest that if you buy, than be ready to sell when he preforms.

NFL Films guru Greg Cosell believes South Carolina WR Alshon Jeffery "lacks lateral quicks and agility," and will be a "scheme and quarterback specific receiver."

"Deceptive in every phase of his game. Underrated body control at 240+ pounds" - Corey Chavous of Draft Nasty . Everyone WR other than Blackmon is going to have a phase or two to their game that needs improving. Alshon has already lost 24lbs and is arguably the best "physical" WR in the draft. Almost every WR prospect this year other than Blackmon has concentration "issues" or discipline "issues". I'm not saying I'm 100% on him obviously, but if he's there for me in the 2nd, I will seriously consider it.

Anyone seeing a potential big fat Mike Williams situation here? Money motivated, loses weight, gets paid, packs on the lb's, then dissapears...

Anyone seeing a potential big fat Mike Williams situation here? Money motivated, loses weight, gets paid, packs on the lb's, then dissapears... That is totally the down side and it is a good comparison. I almost compared him to Williams in my scouting report, but I am more of a believer from the film than most, so I wrote a slightly more favorable report. Either way, he's still going to be worth the gamble in the late 2nd round b/c he's one of the rookies that actually "could" put up big numbers.

NFL.com's Gil Brandt had South Carolina WR Alshon Jeffery at 4.48 and 4.49 in the forty at the Gamecocks' Pro Day.
They were faster times than the 4.54 reported by SI's Tony Pauline on the day of the workout. Jeffery did show solid athleticism at 6-foot-3, 213, recording a 36-inch vertical and 4.17 short shuttle. Per Brandt, the likely second-round prospect will visit the Vikings on Tuesday and Jets on Wednesday.

Yep, I saw that. Thats what happens when you shed 24 lbs. The guy is getting ready to get paid. There are alot of haters of Jefferys but I am liking him more and more.

Count me in the "take a chance" category.

Money motivated, loses weight, gets paid, packs on the lb's, then dissapears... This is what I'm most worried about to be honest. Sure he lost a bunch of weight but he HAD to so he's a decent draft pick. Once he gets his contract who knows... I'm all for taking the risk with this guy at the right spot. If I can get him mid-late 2nd I'm all in but I'm pretty sure he'll be gone by then.

I'd much rather take my chances on Marvin Jones or Reuben Randle in the 2nd than Jeffery at the back end of the 1st.
