If you are in multiple leagues, do you ever make a trade in one league so you don't in another?
This is the worst part of the season. The lull between free agency and the NFL draft. Those of us that need our daily fix of fantasy football are bored out of our skulls. In my most important league we keep 7 plus a rookie. So right now I think I have the best 8 keepers in the league. Due to boredom I have been entertaining offers and mapping out the next 3 trades to make if I make the first one. Then I talk myself out of it because it would be a lot of work (fun work of course) and the end result might not even be better than what I started with.
So last week I got an offer in one of the less important leagues. I did a quick evaluation, made the call to my "advisor", and decided it was a good enough deal to accept. I imagine it was like a junkie getting their fix. It wasn't a huge trade. I gave Donald Brown and Delone Carter and I got Josh Freeman, Stevan Ridley, and Evan Royster. The urge to trade went away for a few days.
In the process of writing this I think I may have come to a conclusion. Make sure you have at least one back-up league that doesn't mean as much to you so you can play with that one and leave your most important team alone. If it needs to be left alone. Which it does. Or does it?

I trade in all my leagues...heavily. To the extent that I feel some owners wont make trades they normally would because they are dealing with me. But I'll trade just to trade. My Idea league would be me and 11 clones that loved to trade just as much. Wish we could filter out owners that hoard their players.

The worst for fun trade I ever did one year was trading Fitz for Braylon after his huge year with D.Anderson. I was so bored that I thought it would be a fine lateral trade for fun. There was a little more to the trade than that, but that was the gist of it. We all know how that turned out in the end.

I have a project team this off season. I have won 2 out of the last 3 years and it wasn't even fun. Not even close. Last season I set records for points scored, wins, consecutive wins, and pretty much every other category there was. Just set my lineup Tuesday and forget it. I told myself that if I won, I would blow up the team. So I did. It is a keep 7 league.
End of last season: Brady AP, MJD, Turner, McGahee Andre, Nicks, Roddy, Cruz Gronk
Now: Tebow (will cut) AP, Forte, Murray, McGahee (trade or cut bait) Nicks, Bowe, Austin (tried to package with 1.02 for an upgrade but shot down) Finley
Picks 1.01 (Richardson), 1.02 (Best WR or Draft Day trade for QB)
I think I've done a good job at overhauling a team and getting younger while remaining competitive.
This is the league I care least about due to dedicated, but horrible owners so it's like shooting fish in a barrel. Not that I've ever done that but I've heard it's pretty easy. So essentially I'm doing my best to entertain myself in a boring league.

My worst non-trade was last year before the season started (keep 1 rookie league) I was offered Gronk for a 4th round pick. Oops.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I don't believe in making trades just to make trades, or making trades out of boredom. I do make trades, but I only make the trades that I feel need to be made get my team over the hump to compete for a championship. If an owner inquires about a player and he isn't on my "no trade" list, then I try to accommodate that owner with some offers that I think are fair. Having said that, if an owner came after one of my "no trade" players, I would certainly trade that player, but the offer would have to be overwhelming.
I've made my share of bone-headed trades before, as we all have, so maybe this philosophy is more about self preservation than anything else. I'll ask my shrink about it.
