Hey Guys, I already gave my opinion here, but I'd like him to have some more feedback if possible. dynastyfootballwarehouse.com/dynasty-101/the-art-of-trading/#comment-323Collin needs some feedback on this trade question...what say you? He posted this on the Art of Trading article. I referenced this link so he could get some advice from the Warehouse. Collin Says: March 31, 2012 at 11:34 am (Edit) What is the value of a 2013 1st rd rookie pick for a start up league? 55 rd start up IDP league Offer on table is Rd 6, 8, 12 and 2013 5th rd rookie pick For 18, 20, 22 and 2013 1st rd rookie pick… Just wondering if the value of a 1st should net a higher group of picks in a IDP 55 rd start up. I think you did an excellent job with your comments on the trade. Like you I don't like trading for rookie picks in future years. I just don't like the risk. Who knows if it will be a late first or an early. I sometimes wonder if I am "off the beam" on this because it seems there are many that do place a high value on them. I really do think this is an excellent topic and like to hear other opinions on this.

Agree with blitzers you killed it with that answer. In a startup draft involving future rook picks just isn't worth it. Since you're either pre-draft or in the middle of the draft you have no way of knowing how good a team would be. They can be used as throw ins to put a trade over the edge but other than that I don't really consider them viable bargaining chips. In fact I would advise against allowing future draft pick trades in a startup draft. It adds very little to the draft itself and can really doom or make a team if a random pick turns out to be 1.1.

The LM in a League(startup) I'm in outlawed trades with future picks out of fear of turnover. I do agree with him. Though, I might ask him to put it on the table later if things go well.

What is the value of a 2013 1st rd rookie pick for a start up league? 55 rd start up IDP league I feel as tho I am giving up on the current year by trading for a future first in a startup, that is just me. My simple forumla: Future 1.r = Current Year 2.r In a startup: Future Year 1.r = Startup 7 or 8 rd pick Many would argue, but there is much more risk in a future 1.r in a startup over known qualities in rounds 6-8. If you are one that likes to take chances and swing for the fences, these trades might appeal to you. Be prepared to stike out alot.

Avoided "The Trail" as they call it
