Nothing fluid about Rodgers for the next decade. Brady starts this year at 35yo and his skills (like every player ever) will start to decline. People can ignore that...but it seems silly I agree that QB's are more stable when it comes to FF value, but all other positions are at such risk to injury and sometime easily replaceable while QB's are the anchor of the team. I'll add that 4 of the top 5 consensus TEs in the league have elite scoring QBs (Rodgers, Brees, & Bradys). Sure any TE can be traded (works equally for Hernandez and Finley), but only one is looking at playing over half his career without an elite QB getting him the ball.

You're killing me here! Finley could very easily lead all TEs next year and be the best TE in football. Hernandez isn't even the best TE on this own team and is an afterthought in the red zone! Agree

It's not like it's a guarantee that Hernandez is a Patriot for life. Both he and Gronk are free agents in 2014 and it's unlikely that NE will re-sign both. Brady will be fine until then. Finley is also a free agent at that time so who knows what might happen. I can almost guarantee the situations won't remain exactly the same.
If we judge these guys on the situation they're in right now we're in a world of hurt 2-3 years later. Both are very talented and young. I don't see the wide gap you're portraying gambler.

I did choose Finley earlier in this thread as he is my #4 ranked TE right behind Davis, my opinion over the last few posts is more about having a QB for the next decade. I just don't think that is something that should have a whole lot of weight. They are both in elite offenses, and yes Brady will be gone in 3 or 4 years. But, that is so LONG from now that it's not a huge plus for me. JMO
The reason I chose Finley is that I believe he's more talented, don't get me wrong Hernandez can take hand-offs and reverses which is special for a TE. Hernandez has dominated in games here and there and he was pretty consistent last year. But, I want the guy with the beastly physical tools with the higher ceiling who "could" like Gambler said dominate for the next few years if things go right for him.

Lot of short sighted fantasy owners forgetting how old Brady is. People treating this like a redraft. But I'm all for that. I've just about got Finley in all my leagues. And I think Brady has atleast 3 years of elite production left so that puts Hernandez right there with him. I don't ever think any further than that unless it's a project player. Too much changes.

I'll add that I bet if you polled fantasy owners, 100% of them would of said they thought Peyton had atleast 3 years of elite production left when he was 35. It's always iffy iwth QBs and more so as they get to the end of their careers. At this age, one bad hit is all it takes. I personally don't like to stop at the 3 year mark. Especially when evaluating real young talent. I look to GB and I see a young stud QB and a young stud TE that have literally a decade of solid production ahead of them if things break right. I gamble on that

I gamble on that I'm trying to think of top-shelf talented QB's who have been hurt in the mid-to-late 30's who failed to come back from it. Drawing blanks though. Bledsoe. Montana, although he went to KC and Young kept the Rice magic going.....Who else can we think of here as I'm sure there are more?
